Saadi killed after uncovering corruption cases – Baghdad Council Member

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A member of Baghdad Province’s Council, Mohammed al-Rube’i, has burdened the Iraqi government on Monday with responsibility for the deterioration of the security situation and the assassination of the Chairman of the Services Affairs in the Council, Jassim al-Sa’edi. He pointed that the latter “had discovered several administrative cases of corruption in some official departments. “Jassem al-Sa’edi had been playing an observatory role on the services sector in Baghdad Mayorship and the Province’s Council, where he discovered several administrative cases of corruption in some of the officices belonging to the Mayorship and the Governorate’s Council,” Rube’i said. He added that Saedi’s motorcade was attacked when he was heading towards his office in the Baghdad Governorate’s Council, when a suicide bomber driving a civilian car blew it up. He shouldered the government, the political leaders and parties, the responsibility for the deterioration of the security situation in Baghdad. Rube’i demanded that the security bodies “take precautionary measures before the announcement of the formation of the new government, because the terrorist operations have begun to increase in different parts of Baghdad.” SKH/SR 3
