Tikrit officer wounded in IED blast
SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: A police officer, with the rank of captain, has been wounded in an explosion targeting his patrol in Tikrit city on Tuesday, a Salah al-Din police source said. “An explosive device, planted on the roadside when a police patrol passed through Tikrit’s Qadisiya district, blew up wounding an officer and damaging his patrol vehicle,” he added. Salah al-Din Province had witnessed several explosions early on Tuesday. A blast in a Mukhtar’s house in central Tikrit killed nine of his family members, including his son and his four children. Another blast carried out by unknown gunmen in a plilce caravan in Samarra city, north of Tikrit, killed two policemen and wounded two others. A blast near by house of the Commander of the 2nd Brigade in Salah al-Din Police Emergency Forces, Colonel Khalid al-Bayati, destroyed the house, but did not harm him. Six other blasts took place in houses of Al-Sahwa (awakening) elements and checkpoints in Beiji town, 40 km to the north of Tikrit, wounding five of them, according to the police source.
