9 detained over Baladruz blast

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Nine persons were arrested on Saturday for suspected involvement a suicide blast in a Baladruz café that left 80 people killed or wounded, according to a senior security official. “Iraqi forces in Diala today (Oct. 30) detained nine men in Baladruz district, (45 km) southwest of Baaquba, on charges of involvement in deadly suicide bombing attack on a popular café in Dor Mandili area, which left 30 killed and 50 others wounded,” Muthanna al-Temimi, the chairman of the Diala Provincial Council’s Security Committee, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Among the persons detained was the imam and preacher of a mosque who is accused of delivering inciting sermons,” he added. Baaquba, the capital city of the troubled province of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. The majority of inhabitants in Dor Mandili area are Feyli Kurds. Feyli Kurds are largely a Shiite community living in Baghdad and Iraq around Khanaqin and Mandili. There are an estimated 2-3 million Feylis living in Iraq. AmR (S) 1
