Al-Qaeda Emir (Prince) detained in northeast Iraq’s Diyala Province

DIYALA / IraqiNews.com. An Emir (Prince) of Al-Qaeda Organization in northern Iraq’s Qara-Teppah village, was detained by Iraqi Army troops in northeastern Iraq’s Diyala Province, a police source said on Sunday, adding that the detained person was the financial staff in charge of Diyala Province. “An Iraqi Army force has detained today (Sunday) the Emir (Prince) in al-Qaeda, called Mohammed Karim Khatir, in Sari Teppeh township of Qara Teppah village, 25 kms to the north of Khanaqin town in Diyala Province,” he said, adding that the detention took place according to intelligence information. The security source said that armed clashes took place between an Army force and the demanded person before his detention, adding that the “detained person had been the man mind behind the assassination of Major Mohammed Ibrahim, the Director of Intelligence in Jalawlaa township of Khanqin area. He said that an explosive charge blast on 27/10/2010 on an entourage of Major Ibrahim on the main road connecting Jalawlaa with Saadiya area, had killed Major Ibrahim and three of his companions, Khanaqin is 155 kms to the northeast of Baaquba, the center of Diyala Province, 57 kms to the northeast of Baghdad.
