Syria stands by Iraqi people in confronting terrorism – Syrian president

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday expressed Syria‘s standing by the Iraqi people in confronting terrorism. This came during his meeting with visiting Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdulmahdi, according to Syrian news agency (SANA). Both sides discussed the latest developments in Iraq. President al-Assad stressed the necessity of speeding up the process of forming a national unity government that enjoys the support of the Iraqi people so as to be able to restore security and stability in Iraq, reiterating Syria‘s support to whatever the Iraqis agree upon. The two officials discussed the development of the bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries and the future prospects of these relations. SH (P) 1
