U.S. strongly condemns Tuesday’s attacks

BAGHDAD /IraqiNews.com: The U.S. Administration, in a statement from its National Security Council spokesman Mike Hammer on Wednesday, has strongly condemned the bloody attacks that took place in Baghdad on Tuesday, which claimed dozens of lives and wounding more. “The United States strongly condemns the vicious violence witnessed today,” the statement said, in reference to yesterday’s attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. We have confidence that the people of Iraq will remain steadfast in their rejection of efforts by extremists to spark sectarian tension. These attacks will not stop Iraq‘s progress. The United States stands with the people of Iraq and remains committed to our strong and long-term partnership,” Hammer noted. Baghdad had witnessed on Tuesday night a serious unprecedented security deterioration through attacks by booby-trapped cars, explosive charges and cluster bombs, that caused 64 people killed and 360 others wounded, according to an official result announced by the Iraqi Health Ministry. Security responded by imposing a curfew and closing all roads into the Iraqi capital as a precautionary measure to avoid further attacks. SKH/SR 1
