Iraq to build a project for producing mineral pipes – electrical materials

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Ministry of Industry & Minerals has announced on Thursday its building of a project for producing mineral pipes and electrical materials, after importing its appliances from Western sources. “Al-Rashid Public Company has built a project to produce mineral pipes and electrical materials that enter in manufacturing electric transformers, boards, condensers and thermal transformers,” the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Hana al-Husseini told IraqiNews.com, adding that “the appliances of the project were imported from Western countries, such as Finland, England and Italy.” Husseiny also said: “It is hoped the project will be completed and commissioning will begin in the beginning of next year,” adding that “Al-Rashid Company would also build an electric power station with 10 megawatt energy, in order to insure necessary energy to commission the project. But it lacks the problem of non-activating the law on protecting Iraqi products and the importation of poor material to compete with the Company’s products.” SKH/SR 1
