Blocs’ leaders will not form government in two meetings – Allawi

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The new government formation will not be concluded during the two meetings of the leaders of the political blocs, leader of the al-Iraqiya List Iyad Allawi said on Monday. “The meeting of the political blocs’ leaders in Kurdistan region is a good thing and we hope to achieve good results, but the formation of the new government could not be finalized in two meetings,” Allawi told IraqiNews.com news agency. Allawi, hinted in an interview with “The Guardian” British newspaper a few days ago about withdrawing from the political process if the next government was not a national partnership one. Iraqi leaders called for a united government as they met to try to end eight months of political deadlock and speed up the formation of a new parliament. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, former Premier Iyad Allawi, whose blocs are competing to be recognized as the winner of the March 7 elections, joined Kurdish and Sunni Muslim leaders in Erbil, capital of the northern semi-autonomous Kurdistan region SH (S) 1
