Policemen free hostage in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Policemen freed a man taken hostage with his government-owned vehicle in Mosul city on Sunday, according to a security source. “Unidentified gunmen had kidnapped and taken hostage a driver working for the Mosul Municipality along with his trash truck in the Waddi Akkab industrial zone but the police managed to free the man,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The police chased the kidnappers but they escaped after leaving the kidnapped driver and his truck in the area of al-Sahaji, western Mosul,” he added. The source did not give more information about the incident. Mosul, the capital city of the unrest-stricken province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
