Parliament Speaker calls for joint action with executive, legislative authorities

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com:  Iraq‘s Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeifi, has called for joining the Parliament’s activity with both Executive and Legislative authorities and acting with the government as an observatory and legislative power, supporting and observing its policies. “We must work together with the government, as an observatory and legislative authority, supporting, observing and backing its steps,” Nujeifi told a news conference on Tuesday after a meeting, attended by President Jalal Talabani, PM Nouri al-Maliki and former PM Ibrahim Jaafari. “We must work as one united organization, acting through the legislative, executive and legislative power, in order to march together as one sole body to achieve an atmosphere of stability, under a peaceful and stable Iraq, looked upon with pride and appreciation,” Nujeifi said.
