Ansar al-Sunna leader arrested in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Policemen arrested late Sunday a senior leader of Ansar al-Sunna armed group in Kirkuk, according to Kirkuk Districts police Department (KDPD) chief. “KDPD forces arrested late Sunday (Nov. 28) Ghazi Ahmad Kalous, a senior leader of Ansar al-Sunna group, in accordance with Article IV Terrorism Law,” Brigadier Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that the man waged more than 15 terrorist operations in Kirkuk. Jaish Ansar al-Sunna, or Army of the Followers of the Sunna is a militant group based in northern and central Iraq, and includes both Kurdish and Sunni Arab as well as foreign fighters. Kirkuk lies 280 km northeast of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 28
