Calls for parliament to grant women 25 % representation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com:The participation of female members in parliamentary committees should cover at least 25 percent of the committees total members, a female legislature from the State of Law Aliance has noted. “The participation of women in taking decisions within parliament is an important factor to boost her role and prove her potentials,” Safiya al-Suheil told IraqiNews.com news agency “The parliament should grant women 25 percent of its member committees, as an appreciation for woman’s participation in the parliament‘s internal committees,” she continued. “We (women) have not been granted any official decision to approve such percentage. We strive to achieve this participation of women in the Parliament’s local committees by at least 40 percent,” Suheil concluded. SKH/SR 2
