Iraqiya member says bloc did not name anyone for minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Al-Iraqiya bloc did not name any candidate for ministerial portfolios in the new government, according to member Intissar Allawi on Friday. “Al-Iraqiya bloc has not yet settled on candidates for ministerial portfolios and is still searching for top-notch figures,” said Allawi in statements to IraqiNews.com news agency. Asked whether the parliament would debate the draft on the Higher National Policy Council in its session on Saturday, she replied that the draft was already sent to parliament. “I think the legal committee would raise it for debate to vote over it next week,” Allawi noted. On al-Iraqiya’s position regarding the reserving of the foreign affairs portfolio to the Kurds, she said if the Kurds obtained the foreign ministry portfolio, al-Iraqiya would seek other sovereign ministries.
