Over 114,000 Iraqi immigrants granted UN health assistance in Syria

BAGHDAD: IraqiNews.com: Over 114,000 Iraqi immigrants have been granted UN health assistance in Syria, the UN High Commissioner’s Assistant for Iraqi Refugees, said on Tuesday. “The UN High Commission for Iraqi Refugees in Damascus has granted preliminary health assistance for 114,726 Iraqi Refugees in Damascus, especially for cases, such as severe inflammation in the nose, throat, urine, blood pressure and stomach,” Rola Nasrallah told IraqiNews.com news agency. She said the Commission presents such assistance in nine Syria Red Cross offices in Damascus, Allepo, Hums and Adlap, where immigrants pay 25 Syrian liras for any medical service, costing 1,000 liras, in addition that the immigrant would pay 20% from another 1,000 liras, being additional medical costs. Noteworthy is that the said High Commission‘s official had told IraqiNews.com it had registered 139,586 Iraqi refugees in Syria till the end of October, 2010. SKH/SR 1
