Violence kills 1, injures 12 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A young girl has been killed and 12 persons were injured, among them Iranian visitors, in acts of violence in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad over the past 12 hours, according to a security source on Wednesday. “Unknown gunmen planted three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in front of a house belonging to a police colonel in northern Baghdad‘s Mushahda area. The IEDs blew up late on Tuesday night, killing one of his daughters and injuring three members of his family, along with causing damage to his house and car,” the security source said. In another incident, a security source said that an IED blew up under al-Salam bridge in southern Baghdad‘s Daura district, when a bus carrying Iranian visitors passed. The explosion wounded 7 persons and caused damage to the vehicle. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Another IED blew up in a police car in northwestern Baghdad‘s Sab’a al-Bour area, wounding two civilians, the source noted. SKH/SR 16
