URGENT / Kurds have right to self-determination, Barzani says

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Kurds have the right to self-determination, the President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani reiterated in his opening speech of the 13th conference of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Arbil on Saturday, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. “We shall raise the demand of self-determination for the Kurds in the Party’s next conference, as its previous conferences have already raised this call,” Barzani said in his speech. “The Kurdish society is facing a large number of problems nowadays, that can’t be settled unless through the reigning of justice. The law must be independent and just, and must not lean to narrow-party notions,” Barzani noted. The 1st KDP‘s conference was held in Baghdad on August 16, 1946. It is now led by Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, and elected Mulla Mustapha Barzani as Chairman of the Party at that time. SKH/SR 35
