Over 80,000 Basra citizens covered with social security protection aid

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Over 80,000 men and women in southern Iraq’s Basra Province are covered with the Social Security Protection Aid, funded by the Iraqi government, Basra Governor, Nizar Rabi‘e al-Jabiry has announced on Tuesday. “The total of Basra women covered by the Social Security Protection Aid has reached 38,034, whilst the men covered by the same Aid had reached 42,012,” Governor Jabiry told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The reason for the postponement of paying some of the wages, covered by the said Aid, was due to some occurrences of fraud that took place in official documents and the appointment of some of the beneficiaries in government offices,” the governor added. Basra, the center of the province carrying the same name, is 590 km to the south of Baghdad. SKH/SR 2
