Maliki to announce his cabinet on partial bases, Legislature:

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Prime Minister Designate, Nouri al-Maliki, is expected to form his new cabinet on “partial bases,” to begin today (Monday), the Legislature from al-Iraqiya Coalition, Nahida al-Dainy said, pointing out that her Coalition had settled 90% of its candidates for the cabinet posts. “Prime Minister Designate Nouri al-Maliki, is expected to announce the formation of his government on partial bases, to begin from today (Monday), according to an explanation by the Federal Court,” Dainy told IraqiNews.com news agency. The Spokesman for the Supreme Legislative Council, Abdul-Sattar al-Biraqdar, told IraqiNews.com early in the day that Prime Minister Delegate, Nouri al-Maliki, can hold some cabinet posts on acting minister’s basis, till the assignment of the original ministers. “Al-Iraqiya Coalition (led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi) has managed to settle 90% of its candidates for the cabinet posts, with the acception of the Agricluture and Electricity Ministries,” Dainy said. Meanwhile, leaders of different political blocs, including some close to Nouri al-Maliki, “had pointed out to his intention to present his cabinet to the Parlliament on Monday, following the settlement of 80% of the posts, with the delay of presenting the candidates for the security posts for a later date.” The Iraqi Constitution consists an article that the prime minister candidate for the formation of the government must present the names of his cabinet posts to the Parliament within one month from his official assignment by the President of the Republic, taking into consideration that President Jalal Talabani had officially assigned Nouri al-Maliki to form the new Iraqi government on 25/11/2010.
