Diala’s Integrity Director charges several personalities with “corruption.”

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: The Director of Integrity in northeast Iraq’s Diala Province, Khalild Ismail al-Naddawi, has charged a number of personalities in the province with “having been involved in corruption cases, through cooperation with armed groups, targeting his llife, following his discovery of several corruption cases.” “I have faced several threats during my activity with the Integrity Commission, especially after my discovery of several corruption cases, last of which had been an attempt to assassinate me last Tuesday, through an improvised explosive device (IED), stuck to my car in new Baaquba district, that did not cause human losses,” Naddawi told IraqiNews.com news agency on Thursday. Naddadwi charged “several personalities with having been involved in corruption cases, through granting support to some armed groups, in the aim of hampering the activity of our Commission and lay obstacles and threats on the way of its workers, including an assassination attempt against my late Father, Sheikh Ismail al-Naddawi, the Chieftain of al-Nida Tribe, by planting an IED in Kenaan village, 18 kms to the east of Baaquba, killing him on the spot, that was followed by an assassination attempt against me.” “All attempts by armed men and corruptors have failed due to the affirmness and persistance of our Integrity Commission to exert further efforts to put an end to the corruption phenomena in (Diala) Province,” Naddawi concluded.
