Iraq’s PM reaffirms, in meeting with U.S. Army Chief of Staff, Iraqi security forces potentials:

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Malilki, has reiterated, in a meeting with visiting U.S. Army Chief of Staff, General George Casey, that the Iraqi armed forces and security bodies “have become efficient to bear responsibility for the protection of security in his country, callong for further development of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, according to a statement by the Prime Minister‘s office on Saturday. “Prime Minister Maliki has discussed in his office on Friday evening with U.S. Chief of Staff, General George Casey, the Iraqi government’s keenness to develop relations with the USA in all fields,” adding that “the Iraqi Armed Forces and security bodies have become able to bear responsibility and to protect security, working in a professional and national activity, in which all forces of the Iraqi society, including tribes, students, scientists and cultural elements, who had played a leading role in supporting those forces.” General Casey, on his part, the statement said, had “praised the efficiency and potentials of the Iraqi Armed Forces and security bodies for the protection of security and stability in their country, reiterating the U.S. Administration’s support for the Iraqi government in all fields, including the armament and training of the Iraqi Armed Forces.” SK (A) / SKH 5
