U.S. patrol attacked, two rockets hit Green Zone

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An improvised explosive device (IED) blew up against a U.S. Army patrol and two Katyusha rockets fell in Baghdad’s Tigris River, in front of the fortified Green Zone, where leading Iraqi government, U.S. and British embassies exist, a security source said on Tuesday. “An IED, was launched against a U.S. Army patrol in northwest Baghdad’s Taji area, close to the Municipal Council‘s office on Monday night, causing material losses only,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. American forces cordoned off the area leading to the venue of the attack the source added. In another incident, the same source said that “two Katyusha rockets fell in Baghdad’s Tigris River, in front of the Green Zone,” giving no further details. SKH (TP)/SR 1131
