Deputy premier underlines Iraq’s keenness for stability in Egypt

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, underlined Iraq’s keenness for stability in Egypt, voicing confidence in Egyptians’ strong participation in the coming Arab summit in Baghdad next March despite the recent incidents there. This came during his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador in Baghdad Sharief Kamal al-Din Shahin, according to a statement released from al-Mutlaq’s office received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “We hope that Egypt will remain strong and stable. Any changes should occur in a calm and organized way,” al-Mutlaq told the ambassador during the meeting. He expressed confidence over the Egyptian strong participation in the coming Arab summit despite the incidents there. For his part, the ambassador said that Egypt is on the path of security and peace for the good of next generations’ future. Egyptians are calling for President Hosni Mubarak to stand down immediately, not later in September as he has promised.  The protests coincide with anti-government rallies in Egypt where demonstrators clashed with riot police and pro government demonstrators following similar rallies in neighboring Tunisia that toppled that country’s government.  SH (TS)/SR  613
