Hundreds demonstrate in southern Iraq’s Samawa city demanding services improvement:

MUTHANNA / IraqiNews.com: Hundreds of citizens have demonstrated in Samawa city, the center of southern Iraq’s Muthanna Province on Saturday, demanding the improvement of services in the province and necessity that officials achieve their commitments. Member of the National Democratic Trend, one of the organizers of the demonstration, Mohammed al-Bahhar, told IraqiNews.com news agency that the demonstration took place “due to the lack of services in Muthanna Province.” The demonstration, launched by dozens of young men, carrying placards and chanting solgans, demanding changes in the field of basic services and opportunities for appointment for workers and employees, has charged Muthanna Province‘s officials with having failed to achieve their promises to improve services in the province. Samawa had witnessed a sit-in demonstration by dozens of lawyers last Thursday in front of Muthanna’s Court, demanding the government to improve the province’s conditions and to form a parliamentary committee to investigate facts about political differences among the Province’s authorities. Samawa, the center of Muthanna Province, is 280 kms to the south of Baghdad. PT / SKH 666
