Ten killed, 22 injured in booby-trapped car blast in Samarra

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: At least 10 persons have been killed and 22 others injured in a booby-trapped car blast that targeted a police point in Samarra town in north-central Iraq‘s Salah al-Din Province on Monday, a Samarra health source said. “A booby-trapped car blast, targeted against an emergency battalion in central Samarra, has left 10 people killed and 22 others injured, all of them policemen, including an officer with a captain’s rank,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Security sources were spread throughout the city, in an attempt to prevent people from reaching the blast location, the source added. A Salah al-Din police source told Aswat al-Iraq early in the day that the booby-trapped car, driven by a suicide bomber, blew off against an emergency battalion in Samarrah’s Hueweish area, killing 10 persons and wounding 22 others.
