Journalist killed in Ramadi blast

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: The al-Ittijah satellite channel correspondent died of wounds he sustained in a blast that rocked the city of al-Ramadi on Thursday, according to a police source in al-Anbar province. “The wounded journalist was admitted into the operation theater in a hospital for a surgery in his abdomen but he died as a result of acute bleeding,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Earlier, a source in Ramadi police said a suicide bomber targeted a gala celebrating the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday in the central part of the city, leaving eight people killed and 12 others, including Deputy Governor of al-Anbar Hikmat Jassem, wounded. Ramadi, the capital city of the troubled predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 110 km northwest of Baghdad. AmR (TP) 485
