Kurdish Leader expresses hope that independent organizations remain ‘independent.’

Arbil / IraqiNews.com – The Legislature of north Iraq’s Kurdistan Coalition, Mahmoud Othman, has expressed hope that the independent organizations in the country remain “independent and would not submit to the country’s quota system.”   “I hope that the independent organizations would remain ‘independent,’ and won’t submit to the political “quota” system,” Othman said in a speech at a Media Advisory Conference about Media laws in Iraq , held in Arbil city on Saturday, and attended by IraqiNews.com news agency.   Othman added: “I hope that those organizations would not remain tied to objection and support between the Parliament and the Federal Government, as we have discussed the issue of linking those independent organizations to the Parliament and we had addressed an official demand for the Federal Court to get a precise response for our demand.”   Dr. Othman’s proposal took place in a comment on a speech by the Conference’s Secretaries Council, Salem Mashkour, who expressed fear that the said independent organizations submit themselves for the “quota system among the political blocs.”   Arbil had witnessed on Friday the opening of the works of the Conference of the Media Consultants about Media Laws in Iraq, organized by the International War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) and the International Research & Exchange Council (IREX), to discuss the media laws in Iraq and the new challenges facing the media, in the light of the Region’s developments and accelerated progress, achieved in the field of information technology.   Attending the Conference, held under the motto: “Media Laws in Iraq and the Region – the Accelerated and New Challenges,” are lawmen, government, media officials and international experts, to discuss the new horizons and spaces for the media in Iraq , in the light of the challenges of the new laws and vocational challenges facing the press and the media.
