Angolan company starts working in Najma, al-Qaiyarah fields in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: An Angolan company started on Thursday working in Najma and al-Qaiyarah fields and will dig wells next April, a member of the Ninewa council said. “The Sonangol started investing in al-Najma and al-Qaiyarah oilfields, south of Mosul, and will start digging well next April,” Mohammad al-Juburi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The development of these two oilfields will contribute in boosting economy in Ninewa and raising the province’s revenues,” he added. Angolan energy firm Sonangol had reached an agreement with Iraq over the Qaiyarah field in northern Iraq in 2009. Sonangol was the only company to submit a bid on Qaiyarah, which is in Ninewa province in northern Iraq with projected output of 120,000 barrels per day. There is currently no production at Qaiyarah, which has known reserves of 807 million barrels.  SH (TP)/SR 540
