Contracts for 68 billion (b) dinar Baghdad sewerage program signed

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The office of the Lord-Mayor of Baghdad has announced on Tuesday the signing of a contract with two specialized companies to implement the largest health sewerage projects in the Iraqi capital, to serve 17 housing districts, for a total cost of 68 billion (b) Iraqi dinars.   A statement by the Baghdad Lord-Mayor’s office, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency, pointed out that the contracts would serve 17 housing districts in Baghdad’s Karkh bank of the River Tigris.   “The Lord-Mayor’s office had assigned the implementation of the main southern and western line of the project, to carry the health sewerage and rain water in al-Kharkh bank to the specialized al-Ruheif and Kheirat companies, that began laying down the detailed designs for the project,” it added.   The statement pointed out that the office of Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, “is implementing a number of lines, carrying sewerage water, most important of which was the additional western line, for the cost of 107 billion (b) dinars.   It added that the said line would serve the districts of al-Rashid, Daura and the main northeastern line of al-Khansaa district, for the cost of 105 billion (b) dinars, to serve the districts of New Baghdad, al-Ghadir, as well as al-Quds in east Baghdad’s Sadr city, for the cost of 64 billion (b) dinars.   A U.S. dollar equals 1,118 Iraqi dinars approx.   SKH(IT)/SR 420
