VARIETY / Iraq’s Integrity Commission uncovers 9,000 corruption cases

 BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Integrity Commission has discovered 9,000 financial corruption cases in Iraq recently, the Commission’s Chairman in the Parliament said on Tuesday.   “The Integrity Commission has laid hands on 9,000 documents of financial corruption, including a deal for the importation of anti-explosives devices,” Bahaa al-Aaraji told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Parliament Member and former Interior Minister, Jawad al-Bolany, had told IraqiNews.com on 8/1/2011 that the issue related to the discovered Sonar anti-explosive devices, announced by the Integrity Commission “had been part of a political goal,” adding that an investigation, opened by his Ministry “did not discover any corruption the case of those devices.”   As regards to the other cases, Aaraji said that the “second dossier, we had presented to the Integrity Commission had been the rehabilitation of Baghdad’s al-Sadr and al-Shu’ala cities for U.S.$200 millions and the purchase of 10 civilian aircrafts, that contained large defaults.” SKH (ST) 488
