Kurdistan President calls on Kurdish parties to achieve joint agreement

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The President of north Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, has called on Kurdistan ruling parties, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan opposition, to continue talks, in order to reach a common agreement to end the current crisis in the Region. “After reading the final statement, issued on April 5, 2011, by the three opposition parties – the Goran (Change) Movement, the Kurdistan Islamic Union and the Kurdistan Islamic Group, as well as the final statement for the joint meeting, held on April 7, by the Politbureaus of the KDP and PUK, and in order to serve the high interest of the Kurdistan people, I call on both sides to continue talks, in order to reach an agreement that would be an end to the current situation, based on the participation of the opposition in the reform process, the formation of a broad government and to prepare for early elections,” Barzani said on the official site of the Kurdistan government.
