Iraqi Parliament discusses draft-law on fighting terrorism

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament has held a session on Monday to discuss a draft-law on fighting terrorism, with the attendance of 200 of its members, the Parliament’s media source said.   “The Parliament’s 56th session has convened, under chairmanship of its Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, and attendance of 200 MPs, to discuss the draft-law on fighting terrorism and the draft-law for Communications and Information,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the session would also vote on a proposal to adjust the laws on criminal cases No. 23 of 1971 – article 136, and to vote on the formation of an investigation committee to fight corruption in Diala Province, presented by 50 MPs.   “Today’s session shall witness the first reading of a draft-law to promulgate the messages and memos, as well as the details of talks, signed between Iraq and Japan, related to the Japanese loan for Iraq and the draft-law on the adjustment of the Military Penalties No.19 of 2007,” he added. The Parliament’s source said that the Parliament’s session would also discuss the draft-law for the promulgation of the agreement to sort out the demands of the governments of Iraq and the United States.   SKH (TI)/SR 289
