Iraq’s al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc condemn occupation forces violations in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc has condemned the violations by the occupation forces against civilians in southern Iraq’s Basra Province, its Legislature, Haifa’a al-Atwani told a news conference on Sunday. “Al-Ahrar bloc in Basra has held a news conference about the continued security violations against human rights by the occupation forces, who are not ruled by any international law, carrying out hostilities and attacks against citizens, being a clear violation for the Security Agreement, signed between Iraq and Washington,” Atwani told IraqiNews.com news agency.   A Basra Province official, on his part said that “the political process had succeeded in the Province, despite the presence of some setbacks, while we prepare nowadays for the departure of the last American soldiers from the country.” “Unfortunately we have seen an escalation of statements by the occupation forces, giving the opinion about an intention to extend the presence of the occupation forces, whilst we insist on their departure,” Jawad al-Bazzoun said.   He said that the occupation forces “continue to detain and scare up peaceful civilians in their houses, being a violation for the Security Agreement (signed between Baghdad and Washington at the end of 2008), confirming the handing over of the security dossier to the Iraqi forces.”   SKH (TI)/SR 643
