Suicide blast in Mosul leaves 22 casualties

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Seven people were killed and 15 others wounded in a suicide bombing attack with an explosive belt in eastern Mosul city on Saturday, a security source in Ninewa said. “A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt strapped to his chest near an Iraqi army patrol in al-Nabi Younis (the Prophet Jonah) area, eastern Mosul, leaving seven, including four soldiers, dead and 15 others, including two soldiers, wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The blast ripped through a thronging outdoor souk (market). Iraqi army units cordoned off the site and rushed the wounded to a nearby hospital while the bodies were removed to a morgue in Mosul,” he explained. Mosul, the troubled multi-ethnic province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (TP)/SR 639
