Iraqi woman employee sentenced for life imprisonment for stealing millions of dollars.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An employee of west Baghdad ’s Rusafa Office of Baghdad Mayoralty has been sentenced for life imprisonment after her conviction for stealing millions of dollars from her office, a Baghdad Mayoralty statement reported on Tuesday.   “ Baghdad Rusafa Court has sentenced Zina Saoud, an employee in the salaries office of Baghdad Mayoralty, for life imprisonment, who was convicted for having stolen about 9 million U.S. dollars of the Mayoralty’s salaries in 2010,” the statement pointed out.   The Iraqi Integrity Commission had announced in March last year that it had managed, through cooperation with the Interpol and the Lebanese authorities to arrest Zina Saoud in Beirut’s al-Hariry Airport, charged with stealing millions of U.S. dollars from Baghdad Mayoralty, while trying to escape for Turkey, using a false passport.   SKH (ST)     574
