West Iraq’s Anbar Council Member demands an end for arbitrary detentions.

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Member of west Iraq ’s Anbar Province ’s Council, Muzhir Hassan, has demanded the authorities on Saturday to put an end for “arbitrary detentions and offensives, that cause confusion for the security situation in the Province.”   “What is taking place nowadays are arbitrary detentions by forces coming from Baghdad , along with those from the Province, causing confusion for the plans and projects, laid by the Province to improve the security dossier inside the Province,” Hassan told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Hassan said that “the detention of national personalities and symbols, former Army and Police officers, without presenting any evidence to accuse them, is creating problems we don’t feel necessary, especially after the detention of the Anbar Council’s member, Faisal al-Issawi, who was released few days ago, without giving any reason for his detention.”   “The detentions and offensives had covered outstanding personalities, former and current Army and Police officers, known with their nationalist positions and their confrontation for terrorism, such as Wing Major-General, Saadoun al-Jumeily, his Brother, Major Saeed al-Jumeily and a number of tribal chieftains, who were not released till now,” he said.   Hassan said that “Anbar Province’s Council would convene over the forthcoming few days, in a broad security conference for commanders of Anbar Operations and the Police commanders, to discuss the main problems and obstacles facing the security dossier and means to put an end for detentions due to mere suspect or by the reports of the so-called ‘secret informer.’   Ramadi, the center of Anbar Province , is 110 km to the west of Baghdad .   SKH (RT)     499
