Smooth Flow of Traffic between Iraq – Syria

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The flow of traffic movement between Iraq and Syria has become smooth recently, the Iraqi Border Police announced on Monday.   “People, passing through the borders between Iraq and Syria, are feeling relaxed,” Iraq’s Commander of the Border Police, General Muhsin Abdul-Hassan Lazim, told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the number of people who have crossed the borders with Syria into Iraq during the past week has reached over 5,000.   As regards to the borders with the Iranian side, General Lazim said that the committee for drawing the borders with Iran belongs to the Foreign Ministry, whilst a representative for the Interior Ministry exists in the joint committees, drawing the joint ground and river borders between the two countries.   As for the situation in west Iraq’s Anbar Province, an Anbar Police official said that the Province’s Council, through cooperation with the Iraqi Army forces there, have boosted their security efforts on the joint border line with the Syrian side, “in order to put an end for the sneaking of terrorists into Iraqi territories, due to the instable conditions in Syria nowadays.”   SKH (IT) 487
