Arab bloc in Kirkuk Province’s Council demands protection

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: The Arab bloc in the Province’s Council of northern Iraq ’s oil-rich city of Kirkuk has demanded the government to form popular committees to protect its areas, after several attacks on Kirkuk Arabs by armed groups.   “Kirkuk Arabs are demanding the Iraqi government to allow them to form popular committees, to protect their areas in the aftermath of refusal by security bodies to allow the Army to enter the city,” Member of Kirkuk Province Council’s Arab member, Mohammed Khalil al-Jiboury told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Meanwhile, a Joint Kirkuk Coordination Center ’s source told IraqiNews.com that a group of armed men have attacked the residence of the outstanding Arab Personality, Mustapha al-Mimawy, clashing with two of his sons, one of who was injured and lost his life, while on his way to hospital.   In another incident, a group of unknown gunmen have attacked the house of a citizen in Kirkuk ’s Wassity district, belonging to a member of the Border Forces Command, seriously wounding him, according to the same source.   The oil-rich city of Kirkuk , is 280 km to the northeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)        865
