Police officer escapes assassination attempt in Kirkuk, killing 2 persons – wounding 14 others

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: The Director of al-Rashad Police in Kirkuk has escaped an assassination attempt, when a booby-trapped car blew off against his motorcade south of the city on Monday, killing 2 civlians and wounding 14 others, according to a Kirkuk police source.   “The Director of al-Rashad Police in Kirkuk, Major Ahmed Abdul-Ghafour, has escaped an assassination attempt in a booby-trapped car blast against his motorcade in southern Kirkuk on Monday, killing 2 persons and wounding 14 others, among them Major Abdul-Ghafour and 5 of his guards, and causing material damage for 2 of the motorcade’s vehicles,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Noteworthy is that the said attack had been the fourth attempt against Major Abdul-Ghafour, last of which was when he escaped an assassination attempt last week in a booby-trapped car, that blew off last week, killing 29 persons and wounding 90 others.   The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is 280 kms to the north of Baghdad .   SKH (IT) 1173
