U.S. patrol attacked by Katusha rocket in Kut, south Iraq

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A U.S. Army patrol had been attacked by a Katusha rocket in Nu’maniya townip, close to Kut city, the center of Southern Iraq’s Wassit Province on Sunday night, causing damage to one of its vehicles, according to a Wassit police source.   “A group of unknown armed men have attacked a U.S. Army patrol, close to the joint military camp in Nu’maniya township, 40 km to the north of Kut, causing damage to one of the patrol’s vehicles, but there were no details about human losses,” the police source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the venue of the attack was cordoned by the U.S. Army forces.   Noteworthy is that an explosive charge had blown off on Sunday 15/5/2011, close to Kut’s central garage, causing damage to several shops and civilian cars, whilst another charge blew off on Tuesday, 17/5/2011, against a U.S. Army convoy in central Kut, wounding a woman and her daughter.   Kut, the center of Wassit Province , is 180 km to the northeast of Baghdad .    SKH (ST)
