URGENT: Houses of Great Iraqi Poet Jawahiry – International Architecture Designer, Zuha Hadid, changed into Inheritance museums.

BAGHDAD / The houses of the Great Iraqi Poet, Mohammed Mahdi al-Jawahiry and the International Architecture Designer, Zuha Hadid, will be changed into architectural museums, according to Baghdad Lord-Mayor, Sabir al-Issawi.   “Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, has told the son of late Great Iraqi Poet, Mohammed Mahdi al-Jawahiry, that Baghdad Mayoralty, is keen to pay attention for the cultural, technical, literature and inheritance aspects, so it took a decision to purchase the houses of Poet Jawahiry and Architect Zuha Hadid, being a civilization and national inheritance, reflecting the story of the two Iraqi personalities, who have highly raised the name of Iraq on both Arab and International arenas,” a statement by Issawi, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency said.   “The Baghdad Mayoralty shall change Jawahiry’s house into an architectural and artistic place, through its design and decoration, after carrying out a maintenance and rehabilitation process, with the participation of a collection of artists and architecture specialists, who will develop the house into a venue that coincides with the position and personality of the Great Poet, Jawahiry,” Issawi added.   Poet Mohammed Mahdi al-Jawahiry – 1899-1997, who carried the nickname of the Mutannaby of the Modern time, named after the greatest Arab Poet, Abu al-Tayib al-Mutanabby, was born in Najaf, where his late Father, Abdul-Hussein, had been a religious cleric, who wished him to become a religious cleric, making him wear a cleric’s head cover and dress when he was 10 years of age.   His father made him to digest a part of Nahj-al-Balagha Book, written by Imam Ali Bin-Abi Talib, Prophet Mohammed Cousin and Grand-son, and   poem of Abu al-Tayyaib al-Mutanabby.   Jawahiry began to write poem in an early age, beginning to read the writings of the Great Arab Writer, Ibn-Khaldoun and famous poems.   His first poetry collection was issued in 1924, under headline: “Poetry memories in love, homeland and praising.”   Then he worked in Iraq ’s First King Faisal Ist Royal Palace , then he worked in the press, after which he returned to Najaf in the early 1920s, issuing a number of newspapers, including al-Furat, al-Inqilab (Coup) and al-Rai al-Aam, after which he was elected as Chairman of the Iraqi Writers Union several times.   As for Engineer Zuha Hadid, she was an Iraqi Architect, born in Baghdad on Oct. 31, 1950, and she was the daughter of the former Finance Minister, Mohammed Haddad (Mosul 1907 – London – 1999), who was famous in steering Iraq ’s economy during the period 1958-1963.   Zuha Hadid studied in Baghdad till she completed her high-school, got the BA in Methematics from the American University in Beirut in 1971, where she got a great reputation in Western architectural circles, getting the “Architectural Association (AA)” medal from the Queen of Britain.   She graduated from the Architectural Society in 1977 in London , and then held the position of Professor in the Architecture Collage in 1987, then held the position of visiting professor in a number of European and American Universities , including Harvard, Chicago , Hamburg , Ohayo , Colombia and New York Universities .   SKH (FT)       1669
