Shahristani visits Basra’s oil installations

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussein al-Shahristani visited today Basra province to inspect the new oil installations belonging to the southern refineries.  During the 3-day visit, Shahristani will visit the oil and gas installations in the province, media sources reported to IraqiNews.com.  The source added, quoting Shahristani, that “the established oil installations will raise the production of oil products to 140 thousand b/d, in addition to one billion liters of benzene in the near future.”  “We aspire to produce 210 thousand b/d of oil products from the southern refineries, after adding extra installations,” Shahristani noted.  The Deputy Prime Minister will visit floating piers whose capacity reaches 3.6 million b/d, in addition to companies working in the oil sector in the province.  Basra lies 590 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
