UPDATE: Tikrit blast casualties rise to 16 dead, 37 wounded

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: The toll from the mosque explosion in the center of Tikrit city has risen to 16 dead and 37 wounded, 9 of whom remain in critical conditions, police sources announced today.  Among the dead were judge Talib Al-Azzawi and a senior army officer.  Two provincial council’s members were among the wounded in addition to two MPs.  The source told IraqiNews.com that the toll may rise due to the critical conditions of some wounded casualties.  Tikrit city, the center of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of the capital.  RM (TS)/SR 594
