Cop killed, another injured – Mosul Council’s member escapes assassination attempt

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A policeman has been killed and another policeman injured in an explosive charge blast against their patrol in southern Mosul, whilst a member of Mosul’s Council has escaped an assassination attempt by an explosive charge blast against his car, a Ninewa police source said on Sunday.   “An explosive charge, planted on the roadside in Gayara township, 60 km to the south of Mosul, blew up against a police patrol, killing a policeman and wounding another, along with causing material damage to one of its cars,” the police source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   In another incident, the Member of Mosul’s local council, Husamuddin Saadoun, has escaped an assassination attempt, when an explosive charge blew off under his car in Mosul.   Mosul, the center of Ninewa Province, is 405 km to the north of Baghdad.   SKH (TS)/SR 587
