Iraqi police manage to stop Mosul citizen lighting himself on fire

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Ninewa’s police have managed to prevent a Mosul citizen from setting himself on fire, a security source said on Monday. “A citizen, who was working as a guard in Ninewa Education’s Directorate, has tried to set himself on fire, by pouring kerosene on his body, in front of Ninewa Province’s building. Police were able to prevent him from burning himself,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The security source said that when members of the Province’s Council asked him why he tried to light himself on fire, he told them that he works as a guard in Ninewa’s Education Directorate through a temporary contract. The opportunity for his appointment on a permanent basis was to for another person, “due to the latter’s relationship with some officials.” Mosul, the center of Ninewa Province, is 405 km to the north of Baghdad.
