Iraq bans importing European fruits due to e-coli

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq decided to prevent importing all kinds of fruits and vegetables from all European countries to prevent the E-coli bacteria from entering the countries. The E-coli possible affected products were banned from the states of the region after its dissemination in a number of European countries, particularly Germany. Medical sources said that the E-coli is found in the fruits and vegetables. On the other hand, the Ministry of Health spokesman Ziyad Tariq told IraqiNews.com that “all countries in the region took the same measure, though it did not reach the Arab world, but it is a precautionary measure”. The E-coli bacteria resulted in killing 16 persons and 300 cases in Germany alone. Experts believe that it will spread , though it is on limited scale now. RM (TS)/SR 356
