Iraqi government launches initiative for independent media – spokesman

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi government has launched an initiative for an independent media and its morals, its Official Spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh said on Monday. “The government’s Media & Communications Commission has adopted the said initiative, stemming from being an independent commission. It possesses a specialization based on the Media Commission of the Iraqi Parliament, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Social Society Organizations, defending the freedom of opinion,” Dabbagh said in a speech at the Iraqi National Conference. He said that he “feels embarrassed that the announcement of the initiative came at this time, instead of following the downfall of the former regime, who had been preventing the use of media technology.”   SKH (TS)/SR 287
