Authorities of Higher Council for Strategic Policies misunderstood, MP says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Independent Member of Iraq’s Parliament, Safiya al-Suheil, has said on Thursday that differences existed among political blocs about the authorities of the Higher Council for Strategic Policies (HCSP).   “The political blocs look at the HCSP’s authorities in an erroneous manner and each of them describes its authorities in the way he wishes,” Suheil told IraqiNews.com news agency.   She said that al-Iraqiya Coalition and the State of Law Coalition look at the said authorities in different ways, because they did not enter in its details in the beginning of its announcement, due to their wish to form the government urgently.   “The Initiative of (Kurdistan President, Massoud) Barzani had confirmed necessity to form the HCSP, which it reiterated that it must be formed according to the Constitution and the political compromise,” Suheil stressed, warning that “non-implementation of the Agreements, concluded according to the initiative, would lead to further failure of hopes by the Iraqi people, looking for a real achievement, based on the meeting by President Jalal Talabani, attended by some Leaders and representatives of other leaders of the political blocs, that was held at his Baghdad residence early this week.”   Differences have taken place between al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by Iyad Allawi, and the National Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, about some of the items of Arbil Agreement, including the HCSP, most significant of which was the candidate of its Chairman and his authorities.   SKH (RT)
