Recommendation to improve general freedoms – social status – Statement

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi NGOs and a Parliament representative reached a number of recommendations to improve and enhance general rights and freedom, guarantee of social justice  and development children status and deprived strata.   The meetings lasted for months during which provincial councils, governmental officials and academicians participated.   In a statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, a number of recommendations were reached to continue the discussions of civil and political rights stipulated in the constitution, activating the supervision role of the parliament and the civil society, formation of the Higher Commission for Human Rights, guaranteeing youth representation below 30 years of age in the leading governmental positions, adoption of social security to the Iraqi citizen, put a general plan do develop children status, expediting the endorsement of laws connected with the rights and freedoms such as the right of expression, handling the information, the right to gather and demonstrate and issuing the National Declaration of Human Rights and General Freedoms.   The statement pointed out that the discussions were held through 38 dialogue session in all provinces, where 772 representatives from the parliament, provincial councils, governmental officials, academicians and NGOs, including 10 dialogue session in five Iraqi spots, in addition to a 2-day national conference where 150 activists took part.   The topics of the recommendations were the civil and political rights, socio-economic rights and the general freedoms.
