New airport planned in Najaf – Official

NAJAF / IraqiNews.com: The director of construction and planning in Najaf Province announced today that a piece of land was allocated in Najaf Sea to build a new international airport which shall be put forward for investment.  Abdul Kareem al-Khawaja told IraqiNews.com that the new airport will have two landing areas according to international standards..  Commenting on the current Najaf Airport, he added it will accomodate domestic flights and neighboring countries only.  Najaf Governor Adnal Al-Zarfi disclosed that there are plans to increase the space of Najaf city by new housing complexes as well as industrial and agricultural projects.  Najaf city lies 160 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
