Al-Iraqiya demands gov’t take united stance against Kuwaiti threat

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature from al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, has demanded the Iraqi government and Parliament adopt a united attitude towards what he termed as “the Kuwaiti threat against Iraq, represented by the building of its Mubarak Terminal on the Gulf and the issue of the controversial compensations for Kuwait.”   “The Iraqi government and the Parliament must take a united position towards the Kuwaiti danger, represented by the Mubarak Port, the Kuwaitis are trying to build, in order to suffocate the area, where Iraq breathes from, the chasing of the Iraqi Airways and the attacks against Iraqi fishermen,” Iskandar Witwitt told a news conference at the Iraqi Parliament on Saturday.   The bilateral relations between Iraq and Kuwait is witnessing tension due to Kuwait’s plans to build its so-called Grand Mubarak Port, close to the Iraqi territorial waters, described by Iraqi experts and technicians as “tightening the grip on the necks of the Iraqi naval activity.”   SKH (TI)/SR 494
